Reptile translocation started

21st August

Wildwood ecology have been retained by Stonehouse Town Council to carry out translocation of reptiles out of the main area of the site to the zone outside the barriers on the Canal side. This is to ensure that no reptiles are harmed in the clearing of the site (a legal requirement).

This process could take up to 8 weeks depending on finding recurring reptile presence on the site. 80 “mats” have been place on the site, which will be inspected in 2 weeks and the reptiles found will be translocated.

Plans are now being drawn up to clear the site of the deep undergrowth whilst making sure any late fledging birds are not disturbed. When a suitable date is identified, SpICE will be e-mailing all members that have indicated that they would volunteer to ask availability to help clear the site under Cotswold Canal Connected management. We are sure that the event will be fun whilst starting the creation of this community hub. Please do help if you can and are able
