SpICE now has all the documentation and directors elected to form a CIC

  • Question has been raised with the Anchor group as to the timing of incorporation with respect to use of the site under the current licence and funding options

Question has been raised as to the completion (or not) of the task for the Strategy and Resources committee requirements

Stonehouse Community Partnership has been approached to hold any raised funds.  The articles and CIC 36 form have been submitted to them for approval

Domain name www.spicestonehouse.co.uk has been purchased at a cost of £1 / Month for 6 months and then £9 /Month hosted on Ionos platform.

Prototype website has been created and initial membership form created

A CCTV solution was investigated so that the site could be monitored and time lapse progressions could be created.  This requires an autonomous camera with its own source of power and internet connection. A request for budget is an item on the Environment Committee agenda (28th May) of £537.16 including a 1 year data 4G contract.

GCC were consulted about trimming trees for a clear camera view and they had no objections to minor trimming.

  • Funding for a banner for SpICE stall consultations has been requested and will be considered at Environment Committee on 28th May

Events

Much effort has been placed this month on the DHUD Consultation event on the site planned to take place on 29th June.  These plans have been put on hold due to the expectation set by the Ecologists.  See Below.

Ecology Update

An update on the progression and setting of expectations on clearance was received from the Ecologists at Wild Service.  This can be summarised as:

“Red hatch – no clearance works until September, green rectangle current grassland path leading onto site, and arrows showing direction of scrub clearance during ecological supervision. With all of the species consideration and constraints considered an end of July/ early August date is more realistic to get onsite assuming no nesting birds are found during clearance works”

In order that these dates can be met there is now an urgent need to re-instate the plastic barriers on the site, restricting the movements of reptiles.  This barrier has not been maintained by SDC and is now in a poor state preventing the relocation of reptiles.

General

  • It is known that the canal bank at the Ship Inn location needs to be moved widening  the canal at this point.  Chris M-S is enquiring as to what is required and where the bank shall be.
  • SpICE has been invited to APT Family Fun Day on Sat 17th August – zero charge
  • As the access to the site has been delayed, the focus for SpICE is to use all opportunities to consult with the community away from the site and to encourage an active membership
